sword identification

I have a question for anyone who might have an answer. I was given this sword and I don't really don't know anything about it. From looking at pictures through various web sights I think it may be a old german sword. This is a little knew to me. How do I put a picture of the sword to see if anyone can identify it?

If you try a search or read some of the stickies, I'm pretty sure there's some articles on how to put up pics, etc. I personally use photobucket. More pictures is better. Make sure you get good pics of any markings.
