Hello everyone,
For the last few years Ben Sweet and I have gotten together in Morro Bay, Calif. for an informal sword meeting. This year we decided to make it easier for others to attend by having it on a weekend instead of midweek.

When: Sunday ,June 25. Beginning around 12PM and ending whenever everyone leaves.
Where: The Harbor Hut on the waterfront in Morro Bay. Morro Bay is very small, so once you exit PCH, just head for the Pacific Ocean. The Harbor Hut is along the waterfront road, down towards Morro Rock. If you arrive around 12, we'll probably be eating lunch, so just go into the Harbor Hut and look for nefarious characters. Arriving later will make us easier to find, as we'll be standing around cars looking at swords in the parking lot!

Bring whatever you want in the way of edged weapons, both antique and modern. I'll probably dig a box of antiques out of storage for people to examine.

For those of you in Ca. that haven't been to Morro Bay, it's about 5 hours N. of the LA area, 2 hours N. from Santa Barbara, 2-3 hours S. of the Bay Area. Coming from the South, leave the 101 in San Luis Obispo at the PCH exit. Head North, and PCH runs along the outskirts of Morro Bay. There's only 2 exits into Morro Bay, and both will get you to the waterfront easily.

From the Bay Area, take 101 S. to San Luis Obispo, then proceed as above. Or, if you've got the time, take PCH along the coast and through the Big Sur. Or, there's a shortcut off the 101 in Atascadero; just take the Morro Bay exit and you'll end up on Main Street in Morro Bay.

I'll have a seat for 1 person ( wife will stay home holding down the fort )... so if anyone is driving down from S.F - S.J or someplace else of distance then you are welcome to meet me in Salinas and you can ride with me to Morro Bay and back...must sign a passenger waiver, and be free of heart conditions or panic attacks and if you get motion sickness a barf bag must be tied at all times around your head

Khukuri-nuts most welcomed to show up!!...I'll be have my H.I best of the best there

Sounds fun. I'm in Sacramento, but I work on Sundays. I'll see if I can get a vacation day.

Nope, I can't swing getting Sunday off. DARN!!! Too bad it's not on a Tuesday, Wednesday as those are my days off. Oh Well, next year?

Anyone who can get there please look up my friends, Dave and Lonna Schmeidt!

They will have displays of some of the finest indonesian weapons you will see outside of museums. A few lower end pieces for sale, but unfortunatley not their high end pieces. If you get to this show, you will know their display when you see it.

Say "hello," for me.

Ben, don't know how I missed this thread for 3 weeks. Let me get some goodies together myself and see if I can swing it. As you know I'm terrible at making dates but this sounds like fun. If I can make it I'll probably drive just so I can haul my stuff and have relatives in SLO so would stop there on the way back.

I'll look for the Harbor Hut. How many folks do you think will be there?

Norm

Bill marsh I'll have my cameras there... Will Dave and Lonna Schmeidt be setting up a table in Morro Bay at the Harbor Hut parking this Sunday?

Norm if your interested...I can meet you at Trigger Hill at a more early time so we can go shoot at SLSA in Atascadero before going over to Morro Bay or shoot after the meet? Sunday they will be shooting trap then skeet a bit later in the day...also there is a pistol and rifle range I was looking to do a few spread patterns and cap a few rounds of slugs from my Winchester 9410 to see what performance or lack of they do...no clue on how many will be there since this was posted on 4 forums that I know of...want me to bring my Walnut M43 for you to fondle?:D

Sounds great Ben. I'll bring my superior Kumar version of the same walnut knife for comparison purposes. I might let you convince me to swap if you really twist my arm! (-: I'm sure the handle on the Bura is longer.

Are you just going to be shooting the .410? I had an opportunity to get one of those 2 years ago and wish I had then.

I might bring my Browning sporting clays gun, which I haven't taken out in a long time, or just a couple of pistols if that's easier. Don't know the range, or if you have to be a member, the fees, etc.

Probably before the meet would be better, as once you get looking at knives and talking the time flies.

Let me know here or via PM what time you want to meet and I'll see you at TH.

Norm

Hey Norm, ya only the .410 this time + my CCW G36..after taking my wife to Coyote Valley last Sunday I really need to see the shot patterns on some different types of shells so I can get more than 6 out of 25 with the Winchester 9410 ! Since those 410 rnds dont take up much space I'll bring a few boxes just incase I want to shoot some skeet, might not have the time since they shoot skeet a bit later in the morning.... I think on Sunday trap and skeet is open for public, you'll be with me and my Dad who is a member anyways...if you dont bring your Browning that's o.k...

meet you at T.H at 0845hrs....should take 1hr 30min to 1hr 45min to get there...if you have a change in planes just email me at infraredcoupe@gmail.com

Sounds good! I'll probably just run a few through my 1911. I have some handloads I want to try out anyway. See you at 8:45.

Norm

BTW, 6 out of 25 at Coyote Valley with a .410 is damned good IMO! Most of those stations are tough even with a .12.
