Well she's been plugged in for 15 minites and its up to 200 degrees. i'm shooting for 450. Its just kind of slopped together right at the moment, we'll see what happens. The heating element is 220 plugged into 110 right now. I havent quite figured out how to regulate the temp if I have to go up to 220? I have a variac , but not sure if that's a help or not.

In case things don't work out with your homemade contraption -- it was nice knowing you. :D

Oh well, she maxed out at 240 degrees. I guess I better make sure nothing is blocking the fire hydrant:D .
Why couldn't I run one input line through my variac and the other input line straight to the heating element. Wouldn't that give me control of my voltage up to 220 volts ? I'll just try hooking it up to 220 first and see how hot it gets.Only bad thing is that I thought I had a 220 outlet in the garage but I dont.Looks like its time to use the old 1 hand rule. I'm bullet proof right now. Somebody stop me:cool: whoooo hoooo.

My buddy used slim metal box with metal flashing to create a heat box to cure a bow. He said he rigged up 4 300-watt bulbs to get the box under 400 or something. I don't see how that's possible, but he said it worked.
