Sword Steels

I'm familiar with all the standard steels used in swordmaking, but recently someone told me they are making a sword out of Elmax and also S30v. I don't recall ever seeing a sword make out of those steels. Are they good steels for swords?

Steels like S30V are fine for knives but not swords. No need for great wear resistance .You could temper back such steels but there are more suitable types.
CPM 3V makes a good chopper like my Knowles heavy duty camping and hunting knife.

yah sword steel is more 1070, 1075, 1080, 1095, t10, 9260, 5160, 1566, l6, etc
