swords for traffic control?

Bolos are machetes, but still a good idea.:D

'bolo', as i've seen it used is a generic term. i do Pekiti Tirsia Kali and Tuhon Gaje uses 'bolo' as a general term for large blades, interchangable with talibon, ginunting, etc.

be interesting to see (if) what is issued.

the Manila contingent of our group says that everyone hates the traffic control officers and that the department head proposed this because he owns a metal company.

it's only because right now, traffic enforcers (who are unarmed) use rattan and pipes to whack at erring vehicles, mostly buses and jeeps. the intention is to scar the vehicle and make the idiot behind the wheel think twice before running red light a second time or stopping at mid-lane to drop or pick up passengers.

but after a while, drivers got used to it (and dented buses suffer very little depreciation in value). they even take to intimidating enforcers.

so now, instead of whacking at vehicles, they're going to try whacking at the root cause, those idiots with licenses to drive. i'm for it.
