Hi Guys
I'm a bit new to this kuk addiction but am awaiting delivey of a WW2 and JKM-1.I have just noticed the Tibetan swords, these are really my style, can someone tell me if the blades are double edged or not. This affects my ability to import to New Zealand
Thanks

fullplate,

The short version that I have is single-edged. Nice work by Bura.

Welcome to the Cantina FP!!!! :D

As far as I know all of the Swords are single edgeded. I have the standard Tarwar and it is. Dayumed nice Swords they are too!!!!:D

Both of my Himalayan swords are single edged. And tough as hell. I tested them on arrival the same way I do a khukuri, by chopping through a pine tree. Note: they are not intended for this. But I wanted to see if they would hold up, and they did. Welcome to the Cantina!

I believe you can get a double edge sword from HI on special order but the regular ones are single edge like a khuk. The Tibetans are nice and very sturdy. The short one has good balance and weighs about 42oz. The long one is about a two-hander and weighs 58oz! Try one you'll like it.
By the way welcome to insanity central! and of course HIKV!

Welcome to the nut house.

Are there restrictions on importing double edge weapons into NZ?
I shouldn't be surprised, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts also restricts double edged knives and I think swords.

Thanks for the welcome guys, this forum generally has increased my knife spending exponentially and I dont see it getting any better, shame!!!!.NZ has restriction on what can be imported, all the usual things balisongs, switchblades, gravity knives etc. Most are not illegal to own but illegal to import.Swords are generally treated differently double edged or not, but just wanted to check.
Thanks for the info.
Phil

Phil - double edge swords are ok, double edge knives are illegal without permit to import. What defines a sword over a knife - that's open to interpretation, but a Tarwar ain't no pocket knife.

I've got a BAS coming to...

See you at the Auckland Knife Show on the weekend!
