Sorry if this in the wrong forum. Couldn't find a ScrapYard forum.

I am buying a small ScrapYard blade with Mudder handles.

Is it possible to have Micarta or G10 handles made for it instead?

I apologize for the stupid question, but I've never owned a Bussekin before.

Thanks!

I've seen quite a few of the Res C handled knives custom fitted with micarta and G10.

Most, if not all, were made by custom knife makers, I dont recall ever seeing one done by the Busse shop. Reese Wheelend and Tom Krein come to mind right away.

As far as I know its very tough to impossible if you want it along the lines of their typical handle style...

the mudder handles are hidden tangs so there usually isnt enough there for a typical full tang handles like what your used to seeing.

You might be putting a $1000 saddle on a $100 horse. Just sayin'... ;)

It may not be worth it.

Dkstrick...I haven't been hanging out here for a very long time. A few weeks now.

You make me laugh and your wisdom and insites are pretty awsome.:)

I am not a huge R/R fan but if he was as down to earth as you are I might have become one.

It would be pretty easy. Hidden tang or no. Not a problem. It would look different than full tang handle scales for sure, but don't let that deter you. Heck, if you really wanted the full tang look with just handle scales (as opposed to a one piece handle or something) you could even have a wrap around "fake" full tang put on. Where the knife ends up looking like a full tang, but really it is a piece of metal fit around and pinned.

I think it would be worth it. Especially with an infi blade in the mix.

I have never ordered from him, but have looked at his site for a long time. (I had a CS tralimaster with the SanMai III steel, that I really wanted rehandled but I passed it on to some one else).

Thanks for the info, guys. Knife's in the mail right now.

I'll have a look at it, but the hidden tang had not occurred to me.

Might be more trouble than it's worth, might now. We shall see.

I don't understand why you'd take this approach. SYKCO has the same lifetime warranty...if you destroy it through normal use, they'll replace it for ya.

I'd say see if you like it first...they're really great for grip / feel, and make for a "lighter" knife.

I ain't skeered... :D

Nice link there Bigfattyt! bookmarked

I especially like the mellow natural colored sheaths he makes. No die, just waterproofing dip in hot wax/oil mix (I need to get that recipe for my own sheaths).

The mudder handle is one of the most comfortable handled knives I own. Use it for awhile and decide later. If you want that big beefy saber grind type blade by the RMD while it is available.
