Can you guys explain any differences between these two knives other then the cosmetic things like the choil? I'm searching for a lighter alternative for summer camping and have always heard the camp tramp was one of the best things to come from the swamp. It and the ratweiller were discontinued before I knew the company existed.

Just placed an order for one. Woot! Just when I thought I was done with busse kin, they pull me back in! :D

Yea I love the 711 its IMO the perfect camp knife. I have always had a preference to larger blades for general one knife purposes and I think the 7 inch range is perfect. The only thing I would change would be a slightly less obtuse edge bevel. Wouldn't want it too thin but my 711's edge is pretty thick. Makes it harder for the fine tasks. It sure is a beast though. That said I love everything else about it.

Yeah I've been hearing that. If it's real bad I'll send it out for re-profiling. I'll give it a run as is and see where it's at though. This will be my first knife in this size range. I've had bigger and smaller and although I don't really have a use for this blade, I wanted to try it out to see what all the hub bub was about. Who knows I may end up favoring this blade size.

I have used my SY 7-11 a bunch. I bought it because of how close it was to a camp tramp. I missed out on the camp tramp. I have put this thing through the paces and it has far exceeded my expectations. It is a perfect do all camp knife for me.

Although I love my Tramps, I actually prefer the 7-11's! The 7-11's have a sharper point which is more useful for piercing things without cutting a big slice in the material, unlike the blunt nose of the Tramps.;)

For those who own both:
How thick is the edge on a Camp Tramp vs a 711?
What I mean is if you took a camp tramp and 711 and sharpend both to the same angle, would the have similarly thick edges?
Are primary grind angles similar between the two?

I've always wanted a camp tramp and I'm loving my 711; especially the more acute point. I'm wondering if I shouldn't even bother saving up for a camp tramp.
