Syd Barrett signs the guest register

Damn...RIP, Syd. Pink Floyd is one of my all-time favorite bands...I especially like their earlier music.

I just heard. -R.I.P. - With out him, one of my favorite songs would never had been written...Wish you were here.

Funny, but I could have sworn I read about him dying years ago.

It's a shame that the talent was lost amongst the schizophrenia and drug use.

I really like Pink Floyd, but I'm reasonably sure Syd was not involved in any of their popular stuff (except as inspiration).

That said, may he R.I.P.

Surely you are mistaken? The song "Wish you were here" was written by Gilmore and Waters (and released in 75). Barrett had no credit to any Floyd songs after "Saucer Full of Secrets" (released in 68). He wasn't even officially in the band by the time Saucer was released.

He did come out with 2 solo albums which received support from his former Floyd bandmates, but never recorded or wrote anything with them after 68.

But without Barrett, there wouldn't have been a Pink Floyd in the first place - thus no Pink Floyd songs.

I believe Yinyang was referring to Waters writing the song,Wish You Were Here, about Syd.If ya get a chance to listen to Syds albums...the madcap laughs, and Barret...interesting stuff..kind of gives you a look at where his mind was...R.I.P.

Forever immortal.

Not a huge fan but, I must give respect to such a musician.

Rock on man.

'Astronomy Domini', he 'Set the controls for the heart of the Sun'.

I collected Pink Floyd albums in the late 60s and 70s.

Syd, Roger Waters & Dave Gilmour all went to my old school only a few years before me.

Fame, eh?

I worked with Mick Abrahams of Jethro Tull and Blodwyn Pig. Just caught up with him after 30 years! He is now in his 60s and still playing :)
