I have a Schempp Rock and I love it.

It's an 1/8 in thick. How does it do batoning?

The Rock and the DART are completely different shaped than the Esee 5... more 'Kukri-esque'
Also the Esee is much thicker then the other two, different balance... different cutting characteristic different sheath (Kydex on the Esee)...
Handle them all and see what you/your friend prefers.

For what it's worth... I own 2 Esee 5's, would love a Rock but the Tops DART doesn't exite me much.

In all truth, I just got the Rock and haven't put it to much of a test yet. I like how it feels in hand (I have very large hands) and how there are a couple different ways of gripping it. Esee makes great knives as well, you really can't go wrong with either.
