I am so new to Busse stuff... I've done some searches and only some light reading; so much still to know. Does anyone know the production numbers on the 1311? How desirable is this piece? I have one coming in on trade, and just wanted to know more about it.

Learning about the Busse family of products (and potential purchases) has been on my 'to-do' list but never got around to it. The 1311 is just now falling into my lap so now is a good time as any to start.

It's an excellent knife. Can act like a machete or do harder tasks, fairly lightweight, comfy handle, even throws decent. What's not to like?

Rarely are there production numbers released. The 1311 was limited to Scrap Yard forum members only, discounted to ~ $200. Many were ordered, but only the shop knows for sure how many.

Welcome to Busse family knives! The 1311 is a great place to start! I have been a big fan of the Resiprene-C handles like on the 1311 since they were first used on the original Busse Basic series 10+ years ago. The only time I have seen production #s on a Busse family knife is on very limited-issue special blades, and not always then.

They were only available for about a month but I think they sold really well. It is a fun knife are you going to use yours?

Here is my take on it. :)

There were a bunch of them. But Dan may know for sure, maybe not :)

You could get them on sale for 200.00 to 225.00 right from Scrapyard.

They sell from 225.00 to 275.00 on the secondary market, for mint/new ones, when you see them, with a few exceptions of when they first came out, some folks sold them for 300.00 + .
Users seam to be around 200.00 to 235.00 now.

If it was me (and I have done this) I would keep it and use the heck out of it, I do not think this one would be a "investment" blade.
It is one of the most bang for your buck Busse-kin choppers out there.

I had 4 at one time and wish I had kept them all but a friend of mine really wanted one for his son and him self.

The 2 I have left I am keeping them.

Hope that helps.

I scored one from the Exchange, and it's one hell of a price to value ratio!
Get a small Busse (like an AMS or a LMS, or Warden), or 'kin and bolt that to your 1311 sheath and you're good to go! :D
I'm waiting for some trees to come down at a friends house so I can get some limbs for choppin!

Congrats on your new chopper  And also welcome to the Busse family :D You chose an awesome first knife

I was lucky enough to score a 1311 during its regular offering. Though I have not used it a lot, it has blown my mind every time it does comes out. It excels at any task a big knife should be able to do. Congrats on a great score!

I agree. The 1311 is a user, and it's awesome!
I have mine paired with a Scrapmax 460.

People of all ages like the 1311. Because of this... I still have two in my possession, but only one is mine now. :)
