Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could educate me on what this symbol located under the steel type means? I've had this 551 for awhile and never really noticed it until someone asked. Did a search and couldn't find anything about it.

Thanks,
Keith

I believe the "BK" is an acronym Benchmade coined for their proprietary BenchKote black blade coating.

Just checked my coated D2 556 and it doesn't have that

To my knowledge it's a logo they stopped putting on their modern knives. They do still use the "BK" in the model name/number i.e. 556BK-1 for the new G10 Mini Grip with the black non-serrated blade.
