You guys have always come through for me in the past, hoping to gleam some more tech help if possible :o

OEM drivers for my laptop is the Synaptics touchpad version 14, with version 15 being the current. Neither of these have the much sought after option to automatically disable the touchpad an external mouse is plugged in. I know older versions (around v11.2.4) did. Any ideas for gaining this key (and almost singular) function for my newer system?

What model of laptop? Most laptops should have a button either directly above or below the touchpad to disable it's use.

This is the button for the touchpad on my HP DV7

Its a Gateway NV52. All my previous laptops were Toshiba and the pad could be disabled with the fn+f(whatever) key. With this one you have to manually go into mouse settings and disable it (only works with some form of synaptic driver installed!). Really frustrating, especially since it seems EVERY other laptop has the little check box for "disable when usb mouse is plugged in" and mine does not :(
