Good afternoon. I'd appreciate some advice from the experts...
I finally obtained a Buck 124, the knife I've wanted since I was a kid looking at my the back of my Dad's Nocona Boots box. It looks to be a pre-1980(?) model, with the pivoting-belt loop sheath. I'd like to preserve the sheath and use a cordura sheath, or something similar, when out hiking. Can any of you make any recommendations of something that would fit well? Thank you very much.

Congrats on your new Buck. I don't believe Buck made a synthetic sheath for the 124 though they did make a plastic type sheath for the 122 Nemo. You can find a lot of aftermarket sheaths for the 124 on the bay but I don't recall seeing any that weren't made out of leather.

My first thought was if the knife is a user, why preserve the sheath?.... just use it too. That said, 124's are still in the product line and replacement sheaths are available new. If you go an auction site there are quite a number of sheaths available, both custom and factory.

badhammer types faster than I do.......

Thank you for the suggestions. Yeah, it's definitely to be a user. I like the leather sheath, think they're nicer than synthetic. I've just come to prefer the nylon sheaths for hiking, etc. I've taken a look at those links, TAH. I appreciate it.
