I will be buying one soon....wanted opinions on Plain oe SE...for such a small blade I wonder which will work best....like most users ,it will be used for paper and cardboard

I have had both, I'd go for the plain, slices very cleanly. The serrated tends to hang up on stuff.

Well, someone's got to say it..... get both :D

However, for the tasks you mentioned, I would go with the plain edge. That's what I started with and it is an incredible slicer. I loved it so much I ended up getting a serrated one as well (both in blue). It's easier to sharpen than it might initially look, especialy if you have a Sharpmaker. Just use the edges of the white rods and angle the blade to keep the edge perpindicular to the stone. I remember hearing or reading that Spyderco uses a 30 degree edge, and that is what I've been sharpening mine at with good results. Sorry for sliding off topic some; I just remember being a little concerned with sharpening ease when I got mine and thought it might help a bit.

I have the plain edge model and I work in a Distribution Center environment. My job entails opening boxes, cutting shrink wrap, twine, rope and misc. packaging for quality assurance purposes.
It is far and away the best tool for that job that I've yet to come across.

The PE Dodo has single handedly retired my SS and FRN Crickets, a Meercat, a Spyderco Pegasus, a Kershaw Chive and a Scallion.

Does Spyderco make a larger version of the Dodo? I love the thumb and finger ridges, but I would prefer it in a larger folder.

I don't think so.

I'd vote for PE, and watch out for the tip, it'll grab you when you least expect it.

Now that is some sound advice. It'll do a combination of rip/cut on ya real good too.  :( :barf:
