Szabo difficult opening and closing

I love the szabo, but hate the fact that opening and closing is such a hard task.
I oiled it, and opend and closed it a lot but it is still stiff and slow.
Now it seems Spyderco has "enhanced" it's self closing mechanism on the new black bladed szabo.
Do you think it can be retrofitted, because IMHO this is a warranty problem due to a design "flaw"?
