Here is a belt ax that Joe Szilaski put together. It is 52100 differentially heat treated and triple quenched. 9"overall with a 3" cuttin' edge. Sheephorn scales.

That is very, VERY cool. Looks like a handy little chopper and quite pleasing to the eye as well.

Who did the engraving? Is this a 'sole authorship' piece?

Absolutely great! I am actually in the market for an axe (though I will probably end up with something a bit more tactical ;) )...I'm VERY sorry that I missed Joe's table at the NY Custom Knife Show...based on pics, he is my favourite art knife maker...I'd love to see his work in person!

Joe's works are absolutely amazing. I saw a folder that he did in collaboration with Ed Fowler, simply gorgeous. He does his own engraving.

WOW!!!

Very 'Mastersmith-like'... :) :D

Thanks for the peek. You have some outstanding cutlery!

That is one of the nicest small axes that I have seen. The engraving and sheephorn really enhance the look. It has a very fluid shape.

Yes, all the work was done by Joe. Regretfully, it isn't mine. Joe sent me the photo as a reference to something else we are puttin' together. I asked Joe if it would be OK to post this photo for all of us to see.

Wow. That is beautiful. Is it one of the ones Ed and Joe made in sets?
