Just looking over some swords online, I noticed there are some made of T-10 tool steel. Anybody have any info about this steel? I cant seem to find any.

T series tool steel contains a higher amount of tungsten or molybdenum.
Both will allow for the steel to be hardened to a greater hardness for use in high
speed applications.
In sword application this would allow for greater edge hardness and longer wear.
I think that flexibility of the rest of the blade would also be lessened in the
tempering process so you may end up with a better
cutter but a blade that could break easier.

Thanks Mark. I was told on the Knifemaker Subforum that T-10 is similar to 1095 in carbon content, with extra ingredients. :)

With a sword you want a tougher/harder edge and a more flexible spine. I'm not sure if that steel will give you both. It looks like Last Legend and the folks in Australia from Sword Buyers Guide are using the T-10 steel so it must have some merits in sword use.

I like the Cheness 9260 Tenchi series for a lower priced katana, ko-katana, and wakizashi.

I also like the Cheness 9260 swords. I'm looking at their trial run O-Katana. Mainly going to display it, but its good to know I can use it without it breaking.
