All,

I've been reading some of my Knives annual books, and there are quite a few pictures of integrals by T. M. Dowell. I was recently offered one of his integral drop point for around $700. It's in very good, not perfect, condition. I'm curious as to what his knives fetch. I am probably not going to buy it, because I'm so - so on hunters, but I must say that his work is very impressive.

Ted is considered to be the grandfather of modern integral knives. His workmanship is perfect. I own one of his integral hilt and cap hunters and consider it to be one of my favorites. On top of that, he is a very nice gentleman.

Here are a couple of his integrals to look at. It doesn't get much better that this: http://www.sanfranciscoknives.com/artists/dowell_2.html

I remember him having full tables of knives 15-20 years ago, $200-500. Man, what an investment that would have been, along with my Fowlers for $400 and Loveless's for $350.LOL

There's an amazing knife of his in one of the Weyer book. It's a full piece of steel, with no slabs. The handle is fully engraved. Dowell carved out very deeply into the handle in the thickness of the handle, if I make myself clear, and then mirror polished it. It's amazing.

Ted is one of the top makers in the industry and I will own one of his integrals, in damascus with walrus ivory.

There are quite a few knives that he doesn't make any more because of his health, but he still makes his integral and it is my favorite anyhow.
