I saw the NightFighter on Patrick's site as well, and was very intrigued with the overall package. While I've really enjoyed the relatively recent introduction of LED technology into the flashlight industry, my primary use for these lights has been pretty much limited to backpacking type pursuits where a super bright beam isn't of critical important, and long battery life is at a premium.
For tactical applications, however, I was initially very sceptical that an LED based light such as the NightFighter would have the necessary candlepower to make the grade. I discussed this issue with Patrick Ma and he remarked that the NightFighter was not quite as bright as a 120 lumen 6V SureFire (G2, D2, M2, etc.), but that it was very close. Based on that analysis, it sounds like the NightFighter might be worthy of serious consideration, especially for one who uses their tac light extensively. I'm anxious to hear more myself.
