Hey Andy

What are the main advantages to a titanium hawk, besides the odvious. Lighter, quicker, and no magnetic signature. Upon impact does it absorb the vibrations better? Can it punch through a kevlar helmet or is it more for soft targets?
Let us know the details.

BTW, your package is in the mail.

Got it today sir! Thanks!!! I LOVE IT!!! ;) ...sending you a note off-line in thanks.

As for the T3, if we were using 6AL-4V or some of the Alpha/Beta Titanium Alloys, it would be a soft target instrument only...but because we are using a proprietary Beta C Titanium Alloy that is precipitation hardened, it can be used against some harder targets that typically are a no-no for some of the softer Titanium Alloys.
The Beta C's wear resistance is also very impressive, boasting high performance edge retention.

We have not done the Kevlar test yet, but rest assured, it wouldn't be from ATC is we didn't publish the results against Kevlar as soon as we do it...and we will post them...no matter what they are...with pictures. We anticipate a problem getting through the std. issue K-Pot though, particularly due to the lightweight of the T3 rather than its Titanium composition...but truth will be told, so no worries.

The Marine industry may like this Hawk, as it is completely corrosion proof....NO RUST. Broken masts, caught line, and the occasional angry boarding Shark are no match! :D

As for vibratory properties, the lighter weight does translate into less fatigue on the chop, primarily because less raw kinetic energy is transferred through the handle...at the beginning of Jerry Fisk's knife making popularity, he was known for his remarks on his Bowie's speed and leverage in cutting tasks being of greater value than weight of the instrument. I am sure Cliff Stamp can remark on this in no short order as well.

The T3 is not as "abuse" oriented as our steel products for sure...however, when performance in some categories increases, invariably performance in others become affected. In the case of T3, we wouldn't suggest chopping anything harder than wood during normal use, which if you look at it, covers nearly all the bases in terms of performance anyway.

The T3's cutting geometry will be very aggressive and as mentioned previously, we are planning to serrate the hooking edge...the wielder will need to choose his task wisely...any soft target will in fact be devastated by the T3's ferocity and speed.

The T3 will indeed carry a head breakage guarantee, but it will not be guaranteed against minor damage incurred from use in the field.

Hope this helps...

Yes, new profile. Time for a name change.

That Beta C sounds like some interesting stuff. And a serrated bottom edge. Sweet! I'm sure the finished product will be outstanding. All of us ATC fans look forward to your products.

Picked up the May issue of Tactical Knives. I see that ATC is in there. Everybody should get the issue.

See you on the trail.
