It seems like a lot of traffic on this forum is just people asking what changes are being made in the Spyderco line. When is the Native coming out in VG-10? What will the grind be on the new Police? What kind of steel...

It would be very handy for customers, and probably save some Spyder-employees' time, if there were a thread on top that just had a table of upcoming changes to the lineup. For each model knife, list what changes (or new options) will there be in the steel, grind, handle material, color, etc. and when they take effect. Update individual items as necessary.

Does this make sense to y'all?

A very good idea indeed. It´s called a "sticky", a thread that stays at the top of this forum.

The only reason I visit this forum is to find out when the Gunting will be made with a 4 inch blade (Guro=never) or what kind of new models are going to be produced.

New model and purposed changes could be listed, but as Sal has stated, the timelines are very sketchy. With at least 3 diferent manufacturing sites (and countries) plus all the other things involved with producing new knives, even he isn't sure exactly when or in what order the new models will ship.

It wouldn't have to be a contract, just a table of the latest (tentative) information on new models or changes.

So who is volunteering for this project? sal is tapped, Joyce, you got any "free" time? Travis?

The problem is more complicated than it might appear. We do our best to answer the questions. Trying to anticipate the questions, or how much info is ready, or ???? is what the forum is about.

When I do think to offer info, I generally do it. We showed more than 30 new prototypes and concept models at the Blade show, and there is 10 more we're working on that we didn't show. I guess what we're doing is sharing part of the R&D project list with you.

We never mentioned the Kiwi, and it will be shipping in several weeks. One of our distributors already had them on order. Some designs are kept secret.

I imagine a list could be compiled from the info gathered from the questions on the forums. That in itself would be a job. Usually we send out the availability info to our dealers as soon as we have dates down. Good idea. Difficult to implement on our end.
