I know many of you dislike the TAC handle. So do I. It just doesn't fit comfortably in my hand. I love the blade on the BATAC, but I couldn't get over the handle, so I sent it to Bill Siegle. I just got it back and must say, I'm quite impressed. It feels so much better.
Here's some pics:

Time to go play with it.

I like my BATAC's but my complaint isn't about hte handle, it's that the danged choil is mega-sized. I'd like the blade-edge a bit closer to the handle is all. Maybe 1/4" or so. Nothing major.

But that looks interesting. I've got big hands so I'm not sure if I'd like it, but it's very well done. Bill does good work.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has been thinking about having some work done on the handles of the BATAC. I too like the blade and the handling characteristics of this knife. I have mag handles and like the thickness but don't like the height.

Did your knife start out with standard or mag handles? Did you change the thickness or is it the same. How much height did you remove? Did you have material reomved from top and bottom or just the top? How did you decide on the shape?

Sorry for all the questions but I've been thinking about doing this since I got the knife and even more so since talking to Bill at Blade West.

I sold my first one with standard handles cause it didnt feel right in my hands. Bought one with mags and I like the mags better but that might be a good fit too. Good idea.

Very nice, and I like that color on the handle.

btw, next time you are in your Photobucket account, try clicking on the IMG code, then paste here, and you get this:

Those are mag handles. Yeah, I like them better than the standard too. The thickness was left the same. As for height, I basically asked him to take off most of the hump on the back and front of the handle. I'm not quite sure how much that was, but while it may not seem like much looking at it, it feels quite a bit different.

That was a fun mod.....made me nervous removing so much material but the end result felt pretty good in the hand. I was able to leave most of the top surface alone too. Just a wee bit of sculpting to radius the corners as needed. The exposed INFI tang was given a satin finish.

I love a straight handle, and that one is almost straight. Looks great:thumbup:

Thanks for the replies. Sorry I'm posting this so late. Between car repairs and a mission this weekend this is the first time I've been near the computer since friday night.

Nice mod!

I'd love to see that one in person and know how it feels... It sure looks good, seems to look more balanced, less handle heavy.
