My future son-in-law traded me his busted POS commerical tachi stand for pick of the litter.

jmings,

Cool stuff. It is difficult for me to gauge scale from the photos - what are the specs on the khukuri pictured?

Awesome stands Jerry. What wood? What finish? What joint at base?

I have also used old doors as workbenches and even desktops in the past. Aren't they useful as hell.

Mystery recycle wood with Minwax Red Oak finish. The heads are joined with dowell pegs and the base is joined to the brace and riser with long screws. The base and riser are halved joints.

Oh yes, old doors are great workbenches. In fact ;) that's all they're good for.

13" blade, 18" overal.
A cheap imitation though that can be found at inflated prices on eBay.

Very neat Jerry! I have a 2 page long list of "stuff to get" and right now stands that I saw you made for both khukuris and swords are about 3rd on the list. Really nice work.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Norm.
Before the move, I've still got a combination rifle/sword rack that I haven't started on. A special khukuri presentation stand that's waaaay overdue and a shipment to the UK. I thought I might stuff a flat rate box and supprise Auntie Yangdu as well (can't promice anything).
Then when the house clears and escrow clears, it's off to Misery ... er Missouri and there whii be about 2-3 months getting set up. Want to PM me your snail address and tell me what you're looking for :D

Here's a shot of another of Jerry's stands, pictured with an HI blade. (A 40" HI blade, incidentally, but a couch is provided to give a sense of scale.)

It's a keeper. :) It also neatly sidesteps the problem of how to display a seven pound blade without tearing sheetrock screws out of the wall. (Don't ask about that.)

To ask the unaskable ;)

"Look, up in the sky. It's Gojira!"
"No it's Wonder Dog!"
"No, it's SuperRam!"

Dave, doesn't the knife want to have the back of the handle face the stand? I know the blade would be exposed to the front, but I would think the blade would be unstable in this position and want to flip outwards? Thanks for any info. I have my monster 50" buff head ceremonial hanging up, but it would look much better on one of these out of the scabbard on display.

Thanks,

Norm
