Alright guys I've been able to use my Sharpmaker to get quite a few of my knives to a shaving edge so I got a little experince. My ZT302 could use some touching up but I'm a little unsure of how to go about it. I assume I can't just hold the knife horizontally when going through the recurve region. I'm just trying to figure out if there is a certain manipulation of the wrist that I'm not seeing.

I've always heard complaints about sharpening the recurve just not to sure what needs to be done differently. Thanks in advance.

The movement needed takes some time to get the hang of but you will get it, just keep using a sharpie to mark the bevel and adjust your movements from what you see. You could also try using the sharpmaker rods freehand to get a little better feel for how it curves.

You do NOT want to hold it horizontally! Whether working with a recurve or not! So I'm going to assume you meant vertically.

Yes, you just use it as you would a regular knife. I don't see any reason it wouldn't work; the contact area of the corner of the stones is thin enough to accommodate the reverse curve part. Just don't use the flat part of the stones.

Use a sharpie if you're unsure, and then you can see where the stones are working on the blade.
