This is a very new knife but it has piqued my interest bc
- it's thin and light, but with decent handle real estate
- the blade is thin and slicey, which I like for my edc, and zdp189 is quality steel
- cost risk is low (about $150 from AliExpress)
- most importantly from the few videos available it does not suffer from the dreaded "blade bounce" on closing, which drives me crazy with most button locks.

But I'm dubious about that blade shape for edc. Not looking for aesthetic opinions, but thoughts on functionality, especially from people who have edc'd that steel and/or a similar blade shape? Also I have never ordered from AliExpress and wondering if they are reliable?

I think this is Tacray's own design, it doesn't look like anything from the big manufacturers and their other knives don't look like ripoffs.

A couple YouTubers have given very positive reviews, but it's too new to have gotten into many hands yet.

I thought Ali Express would be faster to ship than Tacray but they say 6-8 weeks!

OK the collective wisdom of the forum has persuaded me to avoid AliExpress.

But as to the knife itself, does anyone have experience either (a) using a thin ZDP blade, or (b) a blade of similar shape?

Most shapes will cut, so I suppose it's usable. That angle in the middle of the cutting edge turns me off, though. Looks funky and non-functional
Ali-Express has a sketchy knife reputation. There's no guarantee that the steel will actually be ZDP189.
IMO $150 is too much to spend for a knife on Ali-Express. The risk of getting something bogus is too high.

I would recommend the TRM Atom or the Hogue Deka or the Tactile Maverick for thin slicey blades from great companies.

Very valid suggestions! But
- I'm not a fan of liner locks, otherwise I would definitely have an Atom
- I have a Maverick but the ergos are perfectly arranged to not fit my hand, when trying to pull the lock bar back it squirrels out of my grip
- the Deja is a tad small.

The BM 940 is near perfect except not very slicy, I may just try regrinding that. But I am still very curious about the Tiran since in theory it checks most of my boxes . .

There is a trm framelock in the marketplace and trade forum. They make fantastic knives. It's a neutron.

If you’re really interested in trying out ZDP, I can recommend the Maxace Peregrine II.
Of course, you have to make sure it’s the configuration with the copper carbon fiber inlays, BUT I thought it was a great knife for the price.
They can be found with a bit of searching and should be under $300.
