I have a soft spot for Buck tactical models so for my 1000th post Im posting a few that I had laying around in my apartment. Here is a pic of my CSAR-T, Punk, Hoodlum, Strider/Tarani, and Bravo:

Same knives with a S&W MP 15-22"

And here is one from a range day last summer of my Bravo and Buck Lite with my Colt Tactical Carbine (6731) and a Beretta 92FS compact.

Congratulations on a thousand posts!

Thanks for posting those great gun and knife combo shots. They look great. That Hoodlum just dwarfs all the rest doesn't it.

May be that it is a stupid question. But what does
"tactical" means in context to knives?

Non-reflective blades, choils, jimping everywhere, thumb ramps, heavier build. Everything you need to defeat the bad guy.

Thanks DS,

I'll keep that in mind next time I go after that cardboard box.....LOL.

How thick is the Bravo blade? Is it close to the CSAR-T?

Depends. The Bravo's blade thickness is .120". The CSAR-T model #095 (Pro) is .175" but the #090 (Avid) and the #091 Responder are .120", same as the folding Alpha Hunter.

It means people will pay more for the same thing others offer without tactical in the name. :)
Truthfully most are pretty poor designs should they really need to be put in service as such. Look at some of the above and think about how hard they would be and how poorly they would perform as such.

Well I don't know if you have had any use with any of those knives. And I have used several "traditional" Buck knives that were of poor design and did not perform well. Don't bash tactical just because you don't like it. And I give Buck credit with having knives that evolve with the times! I have a CSAR-T folder and think it's a great design and love the knife. And have handled the Hoodlum and If I did not already have a good chopper knife I would have bought it. And I think that the Hoodlum is a very well designed knife and has very good balance and give Buck a tip of my hat on end result. Good job on the Hoodlum!!

Having been to a lot of not so nice places including 2 tours as an Infantryman in Iraq I like much of the attributes that make a knife or firearm "tactical".

I wouldn't consider the Hoodlum or the Punk tactical, The others have a degree of tactical attributes to them. The Hoodlum and Punk are more geared toward the outdoorsmen rather than a tactical stand point. My Opinion...

My son and I hope Buck keeps making the so called tacical knives:thumbup:

We have:
3x Buck/Strider 889 SBMF Coyote Brown Folding Knifes (all three colors)
2x Buck 847TNX Desert Tan Vantage Force Pro Folding Knifes(we want the OD ones next):D
Buck 690 TOPS/BUCK CSAR-T Fixed Knife

The Hoodlum is an outdoor knife not a tactical.

Agreed, the knives listed are in the realm of tactical and make great BUCK options.
