A friend of mine and I were talking tonight on MSN messenger and she mentioned that she thought it would be neat, as well as a sweel idea, if there was a knife sheath made that was similar to tactical thigh holsters. You know the ones that have a drop extension, so they ride down on your thigh instead of up on your waist?

Well she got me wondering, do any companies supply such a sheath with their knives, or is there any aftermarket sheath made like that?

I dont think it would be hard at all to make one really. If I wanted one i'd just go make one. But I'm just a little curious.

Emerson Knives ships thier production Police Utility Knives (PUK)with "Tactical" style sheaths.

They also offer them for sale in three different sizes here

Strider Knives supplies thier custom fixed blades with similar sheaths made by SOE.

I'm sure there are others

My good friend, Frank Sigman makes the type sheath you are talking about. In fact, we supply that very style sheath with several of our knives. Frank even does pistol holsters like that.

Frank makes THE BEST tactical sheaths available. IMHO BAR NONE. They aren't cheap but they are worth every penny that you pay for them. I highly recommend his work.

Cool beans.

Barry, would you happen to have a picture of one of those sheaths?
It would be much appreciated.

Thanks John, and Barry!

Hey Morgan, the Timberline Specwar has somewhat of a drop sheath. One hell of a knife for a production model, too.

I can say without a doubt Frank Sigman makes a awsome sheath...The two Jones Bros I owned were very nicely sheathed by Frank...Great work.

They make an aftermarket sheath for the Kabar USMC. I had one and they are very nice. Quick release buckle, leg straps.
