hey guys...
not much to say, but just whipped this knife up as a present, inspired by the "60 min. knife" thread. made it in an afternoon. O1 steel, and micarta scales. the knife wasnt sharpened in the picture.

please let me know how i can improve!

i like the look. i wonder if it's to be a user (tactical) if it should have more "grip." serrations on the spine or a bit more meat to prevent your hand from sliding forward. textured scales?

heck of a knife for a quickie! but then again, coming from you, not much surprises me! your talent is obvious in everything you've done.

First off you can improve it greatly by sending it to me :) looks great as if we expect any thing less from you.

I think the general lines look good--though I agree on providing a means of keeping the fingers off that edge. A very easy mod would be to add a lanyard hole at the back. Having a little loop fairly tight around my ring finger is my favorite grip retention/tendon protection method.

I really like that bit of a thumb ramp up top

That knife has really nice clean lines! Great job, even better since it is a quickie!

Looks great Chris, simple and clean, I like it.

It that black linen Micarta?

hey guys!

thanks a bunch! i rough sand blasted the linen micarta and blade, so the grips are pretty grippy... however i do like the idea of a lanyard. it is pretty much just a tactical styled user. you can see it isnt very big. but i know alot of people like the look of a tactical knife, but dont need something 18" long every day.

*grins* i would send it to you Rusty, but i already gave it away... however... i will prolly be making more. i had it at a satin polish before i sand blasted it.. and i liked it better that way..
thanks a bunch!

I'm going to hunt for it (I haven't upgraded membership yet) but does someone have a link to the "60 min. knife" thread? Thanks you guys!

Matt

As mentioned, lanyard hole is a must. I'd like to see some grooves or jimping on the spine for traction, too. Great knife, though!

Wow, thanks Chris! I upgraded membership with this exact post in mind and you found if for me anyhow. Thanks and nice work. I've seen a few of your projects and hope I someday obtain half your skill.

Matt

Are you making your plunge cuts with a belt sander, or a disc?
That looks very clean, nice work!

I'd do away with the thumb ramp, add grooves instead. Make the blade shorter or the handle longer. If the handle is longer add a tad more size to the butt end of things. Laynard hole or not....I normally have them and never use them :)

Great knife!!

*grins*
i do almost all my grinding with a flat platen, i only use the wheel for roughing out as it moves through he steel faster.

i like the thought on the design, and will prolly give it a try.

i had better get ALOT better FAST *grins*
