Tactical Folder

Lately I've been more interested in custom tactical EDC folders. I don't see many people talking about them, it's mostly fixed blades and slipjoints around here. So I thought I'd ask if anyone had any makers they could recommend. The $400-500 price range is about right for me.
Over the past few years I've managed to grab:

Hinderer XM-18
David Mosier Spyro II (have another from him on order, the best imho)
Lambert Inferno
Todd Begg Military Issue Glimpse

I also have the required Sebenza and Strider. Any recommendations along those lines would be appreciated.

I like John W. Smith and have carried a bunch of crawfords for long periods of time.

Just a few off the top of my head....

RJ Martin
Les George
Randy Doucette
Greg Lightfoot
Jeff Hall
Tim Galyean
Jim Burke
Dustin Turpin

John W. Smith makes a hell of a good knife, and backs up his work like you wouldn't believe.
Knifeart has a few in stock.

I'll throw Kit Carson, Allen Elishewitz, Neil Blackwood, Tom Mayo, 'Gus' Cecchini, D.B. Fraley, into the mix, along with the previous folks mentioned.....I can name many others. ;)

Two guys with a lot of talent that don't get enough recognition are Brad Southard and Pat Nihiser. They both do incredible work at extremely affordable prices. Eric Elson is another maker that I don't think gets enough recognition, but makes excellent knives.

I just recently picked up a really slick flipper from South African maker Andre van Heerden via Bladegallery. The design of this knife really appealed to me and I couldn't be more pleased with it (have been carrying it regularly). Feels great in the hand, silky smooth action, authoritative lockup, and just *tight* all the way around. Beautifully finished too. The quality of this knife is right up there with RJ Martin or ay other top name maker I've come across.

Here's a photo from the Bladegallery

Thats because the words tactical folder is an oxy moran

When I posted this I wondered how long it'd take for someone to say something like that. :) Call it whatever you want, that's why I listed several knives that fit the style. It's easier to say 'tactical' then "3-4.5 inch beefy single locking (liner or frame) blade with micarta, G10, or carbon fiber scales made for hard use." :) I don't think that would have fit in the subject line.

edit: forgot to add: one handed opening....

Ill throw in Alan folts, makes alot of "tactical" styled folders. Lives 20min away from me too. :D

My last two came from Mike Irie, and John W Smith. The Irie is his Model 11 spearpoint, and the JWS is his new Extreme SD-3 w/4.5" blade.

Love 'em both!

Best part is the price as the Irie is between $400 -$500, while the Smith is a bit over $500. Great knives and great prices!

Also check at Robertson Custom Cutlery for JWS knives. The F-5 is a very nice looking knife!

Joe, my friend, that's because you're Bowie-biased! :D The Cold Steel 6" Voyager works as a substitute for me when I don't feel like carrying my Bagwell concealed ... is anyone doing custom folding 'Bowies'?

Bob Terzuola. He makes a classic at a reasonable price. Wait time is also reasonable <6mon.
