Could yall list some "military" folders or folders that the military, SWAT, etc. would use? Are the CRKT M16 folders any good, I was looking at the M16-13SF.....any good? And is there military model really a knife that the military would use?

Price range: At most $100

CRKT m16s are ok, but there are better models around, try the emerson SOCFK, strider AR/GB, BM AFCK, microtech LCC, emerson CQC7 and BM 970/975 series, all of these would fit the bill imho

spydie militaries, im sure, would also be carried

Get to a good knife store so that you can try them. Otherwise, with internet purchases going by the photos only, you might wind up buying them one at a time, trying them, then getting more if the one you got does not really meet your needs.

I have a CRKT Ryan 7 and this one's a real nice one. Check out CRKT's web site and see their new all-black version for the military and law enforcement agencies. Best bang for your buck I believe.

Yes sure you can go overboard on price if you can afford it. This one's fine and it will peel an orange or whatever just great....after all, that's all we ever get to use our knives for :D :D :D

I guess it depends on your E-grade or O-grade (your rank and pay).

Back when I was a young E-1 (Private) I recieved about $600.00 dollars a month. There was simply no way I was going to buy an Emerson or any other knife in that price range.

I bought a Schrade LB7 for about 35.00 and, years later, a Leatherman Tool. They served me well and did'nt cost a small fortune.

If I were a Soldier today I would be very happy with a CRKT knife because of their strength and quality and affordability.

HOWEVER...
I would probably buy an American made knife instead (if I were on active duty).
I have nothing against a knife made in Taiwan but some others might--and you don't want to argue politics with a commanding officer or NCOIC.

Good luck,
Allen.

Perhaps the three best tactical folders you can get for $120 or less are the Spyderco Military, BM Axis locks (particularly 710, 806, 735), and the Al Mar SERE 2000. You can't go wrong with any of these.

You can pick up Emersons for under $100 on ebay and in some stores, and of course here on the forums.

If you are looking for the "real deal" there is nothing but Emerson. I mean if you want to find stuff that is carried by the authentic, hard core, no apologies type, there is absolutely NO substitute. The Navy Seals, SWAT Trainers, and Police Depts. have sought EMERSON out to make them special knives. They are standard issue by many units and agencies.
