This is the first Tactical Grapefruit Peeler to be born. The TGP is the Tactical Orange Peeler's big brother. Grapefruit are a lot meaner, so you need a bigger blade to deal with them! :D This one is 7 7/16" OAL with a 3 7/16" blade. 1095, clay coated, etched to reveal hamon (doesn't come up in the pics that well, sorry). Handle is African Blackwood and stainless steel pins and tube. This will be put to kitchen use, so I can't wait to see pics of it in a few months! Very thin blade and point should make slicing pretty dreamy with this one! Enjoy!

Thanks, guys! I don't know how it will do on citrus, but I had to really watch it around this knife for fear of losing a finger. I was doing some stupid sharpness test where you lightly drag three fingers on the edge and see if it feels like it grabs and I cut the crap out of myself. I have done this test a bunch of times on my factory knives, but this 1095 sharpens up a little differently. So, now I'm missing three flaps of skin from my left hand, but it'll grow back!

Gundy, I almost cut my index finger in half, lengthwise, as I fed it, and the blackwood I used on this knife, into my bandsaw. Thank God metal cutting bandsaws move so slowly. Sheesh! Still got a good slah from it, though. Knifemaking is not good for my "doctor's hands," but oh well.

Kohai, after all this time of looking at your Avatar over and over I finally realized it's a doctored up version of the pirates logo I posted in the cove when I upgraded my membership! Ha! Shows you how observant I am!

Man. . . .that's sweet ! Showed the pic to the spousal unit and she even drooled on my keyboard ! :D

Is it strictly a "Grapefruit Peeler?" :p :D

Gig, Ima gonna try it out in the kitchen for a while, that way for sure it will get used. My problem with 1095 (or any other carbon steel) is that I cannot carry it for SD. My sweat is so acid it will eat holes into the metal. It sucks, but I LOOOVe the way this one looks, and am glad that Chiro chose to make it for me.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Very cool blade Steve!!! Your blades are coming along very nicely and that one is first rate.

Define "for a while." My wife demands that you send it to her after you've used it for a week (wear/use signs should very very very minimal). . . .so she can verify your posted usage results. :p :D

So. . . .it's real name should be "Gin and Tonic Preparation Device." :p :D

Joking aside. . . .awesome work, Chiro75 ! :)

limes you say... hmmm... we may have to talk. can't have my cocktails getting the better of me.

I just got an idea for a Lime Cleaver. That's copyrighted, now, so no one steal that! :D

I have to say thats coming along steve. Glad to see your not stopping at the 6 pack special level anymore.

Handle looks very Gene Ingramsish. Very cumfy I bet!! Nice Job.
