Tactical hawk choices

I am looking for a new tactical tomahawk. I already have a cold steel trench hawk that I really like but I want something a little higher end. I'm not military or law enforcement so it will not really be used for combat type things but I would like It to be capable of those type of uses. I would like it to be available in a tan of some sort not just the plain old black on black. I have a budget of about $120.

I found the boker tomahook but I've never really heard much on it. Is it a good tomahawk?

$120 budget? buy a Lagana V-Tac. Great tomahawk for the money, the original tactical tomahawk.

I would if it wasn't so dang ugly. That's a reason I was looking at the boker, I like the way it looks. The v-tac, not so much.

Crkt kangee has taken all the abuse I could throw at it. I would highly recommend it!

Look at the handle on the Boker... The tang sticks out from the handle scales, not conducive to a comfortable grip. If you hate the V-atc I'll second the CRKT Kangee.

I don't hate the v-tac I would just rather buy something I find apealling if I'm going to spend that much money on a hawk. I'll look into the kangee. It seems quite nice.

You could save 100$ more and get a blackjack lite hawk or get a 2hawks comp thrower and sharpen the 2 false edges or get 1 of the new wooden handled crkt hawks or both of them since you would have enough cash. Hawks in my opinion are both a tool and weapon by design so it's really what you want or need that counts but if a wooden handle breaks you can easily make a new 1 in the field just something to think about.....FYI my cold steel hawk has survived several combat zones and numerous trips to foreign lands and still going strong.

I like the 2-hawks long hunter but it's not too "tactical". I think I might get a kangee or the long hunter.

Which Cold Steel hawk do you have?

The boker vox Thawk gets good reviews. If your looking for a compact combat axe look at the browning shock n awe hawk as well. It's a very sturdy piece.

I got the frontier hawk. I drilled 2 holes added some paracord and a bic lighter to give it a flamed look. I've beat the crap out of it thrown it more times than I can count and it still lives.

Depends if you're wanting / needing a spike or a poll. For the money my vote for a "tactical" style on a budget would be the CKRT offerings, Chogan or Kangee. I realize MSRP it's a hair over budget but save a few bucks and shop around, you'll find a decent deal. There's hawks out there to fit all budgets so long as you keep in mind the intended use and quality for the money.

I'm a huge RMJ fan, own 3 of Ryans hawks & a knife and for me they are the cats-a$$. That and one of the 3 hawks is a Jenny Wren so naturally the Chogan & Kangee were immediate standouts, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

You can't go wrong with RMJ. But if you can't afford one, then you can order one of their RMJ designed tomahawks online. You can order a CRKT: Chogan or Kangee from Smoky Mountain Knife Works (SMKW) for about $125 bucks plus S&H. I have a Chogan and it has held up to hard use. But if you hit really hard objects with the blade the edge will roll or micro chip. You can clean it up by sharpening the cutting edge. I will warn you that the finish on the CRKT will not hold up for very long, if you put them to hard use. However, most tools that are used hard will have the finish come off...it happens to the high-end ones too.
