Palaji & Pakcik Bill.
I think I am another person that has been fatally infected with the insideous HIKV!

Referring to Mellinium Special Khukuri Thread - I was thinking that this special edition Khukuri also needs special Karda & Chakma.

Karda is a Karda, it's function is as an accompanying small utility knife to the mother Khukuri. In the current modern days environment a small tactical knife is considered more important especially in case of life saving mission. Then, why not we reshape the Karda to the shape of a small tactical knife? If only Palaji & Pakcik Bill agree to convince Kamis about the idea of restructuring the shape & specs of existing Karda into a new kind of what I called as Tactical Karda, then it will be exactly a long waited enhancement to the functional aspect of it.

The same thing with Chakma - Chakma is a Chakma. It is a burnisher and a flint maker.
I noticed that most Chakmas that acompanying my Khukuris are having very sharp points! Then, why not we reshape the Chakma so that it is still a Chakma but with a new throwing knife shape & function. This is what I mean by a Throwing Chakma - a Chakma that has triple functions ie. a burnisher, a flint maker and a small throwing knife.

Then, our Mellinium Special Khukuri is up to the name when it is accompanied with a Tactical Karda and a Throwing Chakma!

Palaji & Pakcik Bill, Please - I don't have any disrespect intention to all our Kamis! They are the faithfull keepers of the ancient Khukuri tradition. Personally I feel that insyaa-Allaah! all the still alive Kamis & those ancient Kamis that already leaved their bodies are also very happy with our enhancement efforts!

Wa-()lhamdu-li-(A)llaahi-robbi-(a)'aalamiin!

Nephew Mohd, your thoughts, comments, ideas are always welcome and I know you well enough by now to know very well that anything you say is done so with the respect one might expect from a fine gentleman.

I think the problem here is the kamis may not know how to make a good throwing knife and for this very special khukuri would want to stay with traditional design.

I discovered a new use for the karda 'n chakma too this weekend at a party.

heh heh heh

"Smooth Bastard..."

The idea of having a small basically non-violent "peaceful use" blades around is a GOOD idea when one is also packing major combat cutlery. Especially in a society that's as screwed up as America of today.

Fuedal Japan was also pretty dysfunctional in different ways and they did the same thing, often putting small "food prep/utility" blades into the grips of fighting knives such as 11" Tantos. The thinking was slightly different but close enough: don't give offense by pulling "major steel" in a social setting.

The "good mental health" of the Nepalese can be seen by their comfort around LARGE daily use blades. The USofA, especially urban or near-urban areas ain't like that.

Soooo...think twice before turning the Karda and/or Chakma into small fighters, please.

Dave if it is the use I am thinking of you will mess up the hardening. I would say some more about that but there are LEO's on the forum.
