I just got the newest issue of Japanese KNIFE and it has some awesome pictures of custom Emersons. It has a large shot of two of the CQC6/Viper damascus knives with the chisel grind on the right side. It also has the regular version of these knives with beadblasted blades, ti bolsters and green micarta scales.

I also just got the Japanses book Tactical knives and it's incredible. Not only are there great photos or Emerson customs but there are many pages of his techniques. Lance Harris and Strider knives also have their own sections. The production quality of the book is very high.

Jason,

Sounds COOL! I ordered "Kakuto Knife" from the Kinokuniya in Edgewater, NJ. Can't wait until it comes in...

Fennis: Where could I purchase a issue of the Japanese KNIFE magazine that you are referring to? If you could give me the name of a place that has it and possibly a telephone number I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Sniper, I got it from a bookstore called Kinokuniya which specializes in Japanese books and magazines. The phone number for the one in Manhattan is 212 765-7766. They usually get a limited number of copies mid month but I've usually been lucky enough to grab one. Oh yeah, the newest KNIFE has a picture of a damascus commander which looks awesome!

Fenris: Thanks so much for the information and phone number. I'll be giving them a call. Could you also let me know if this is the "March" issue or someother issue so I'll be able to be more specific when I call them. I'd e-mail you off line with the request however my mail server has been down for the past 12 hrs. or so. Thanks again.

Sniper,

Don't worry about it. The issue number is Feb 2000, vol 2. There is only a two page spread in the magazine. It's not the October with the multipage spread. This issue only has the damascus commander, two CQC6/Viper full dress and the Viper/CQC6 normal blade.

I see that magazine on & off again at tower records down in the village. It's really hard to find. They usually have it placed in a really weird spot. Usually by the back. Since it's a short fat magazine it hard to see behind the others. They never have it in when I want it. Costs $15.00. How much is it at your place.

It's also fifteen, but it's a full size magazine with lots of colour high quality pictures. The production values of these Japanses magazines are much better than American counterparts. They're more like books. I think we're talking about the same magazine. I usually browse through it first to see if there are any makers or spreads I'm interested in.

I'm pretty sure that there're the same magazine. I've seen a gun version of the magazine. Both of very high quality.

Well, went to the book store on 49th today. Completely sold out. Does anyone know where I can get the October issue with the multi page spread.

I called the "Kinokuniya" book store and was told that they are sold out of the Feb 2000, Vol #2 issue of "Japanese KNIFE" They referred me to another of their stores but they were sold out as well. Do any of you forum members know where I could get this particular issue? I would either call and purchase it direct or would be happy to reimburse someone for the magazine plus something for their effort if anyone knows where to locate it and could purchase it for me. Also, Fenris does the magazine photo show the serial number of the CQC6/Viper Full Dress? Which number is it? Thanks!

There are two damascus viper/cqc6's but one is showing the other side of the blade. On the one I can see the serial number is 010 or "10" from what I can read. The damascus pattern obscures it a little bit. Emerson made ten of these so it makes sense.

Les, have you gotten one of the dress down ones yet or heard them circulating?
