I'm pretty sure I understand how the lock works but I'm not sure how the lock adjusts for wear where the backspring makes contact with the tang of the knife. Can anyone explain how the lock adjusts for wear?

TOL is a LionSteel Patent.
The purpose of it is locking the blade in open position.
The pin locks the spring. The locked spring locks the blade in open position.

Here are some technical drawings.

Wow! Thank you for the diagrams, I really appreciate the help--it makes me want to buy a Lionsteel knife.

It looks like the tang notch is not a perfect 90 degrees but more acute so that as the tang and lock spring wear, the lock spring continues to make contact with both sides of the tang notch. The cutout in the lock spring is probably slightly angled up so as the lock spring sinks deeper into the tang notch with wear, the crossbar will continue to make contact with the the lock spring.

To open the TOL, it looks like you'd have to pull the crossbar back so the lock spring could move up. Why don't you have to do this to unlock the knife?

With TOL system you do not need.
You have to move the crossbar only to close the blade.
In blade close position the crossbar do not lock the spring.

We have an evolution of the TOL, its name is OCS.
OCS stop the blade in open and close position.
We use this system in our folding Skynner.

May I ask, what sets this apart from benchmades axis lock?

Gianni will correct me if I am wrong but it looks like a slipjoint with a safety mechanism. So the lock is the Spring and not the bolt. At least it looks this way.

Can I ask about the ease of opening of the daghetta? I expect it to be similar to a lockback, but I want to know how fast and smooth is the opening?

Gianni - What is the folder in the Raise Your Limits Blade Show advertisement? It looks like it uses TOL. Is that coming out soon? Sweet looking knife.
