I just bought an Opinel today. I think I'll stick one of my pocket clips on it and paint it black. What do ya think??

LOL What I might do is sand it down alittle and then stain it a dark brown. Any one have any tips or tricks on the classic "Opinel"?? Or what size they like or carry?? Just wondering.

I've always felt that Opinel knives are awsome for the price. I've had a smallish sized Opinel folder for about a year now--a very sharp, very simple, very practical knife.
Those modifications would be sweet on an Opinel! If you do it, make sure to get a picture on here!

Give a thumb disk on the spine.
Find a good "tactical" name for the ring lock.
Is there any G-10 bar to replace Opinel's wooden handle?
Serration on the edge will not be useful, and you'll be able to get more unique an Opinel.
Make a video to show fighting with an Opinel, take care keeping scary face!
Auto Opinel sounds cool, even if the button is a dummy... name it a prototype, give a serial # on it.

Oh, I forgot, any tactical knife need to sound a formidable thwaaaaack when open!

Take any if you like, have fun!

I would think the hawkbill opinel blades would make excellent disposable tactical blades. Opinel style cheap knives are widly used in southern europe, and of courese there are some fighting techniques based around those blades. The scillians and tuscans have had also some techiniques for the sicle shaped blades, that were not purly agricultural.

I tried it last week, and I think a shiny clip looks better.

You can put a clip on it, but I think its too thich to slip it in.. I have No7 & No8 with a modified edge. The blades stains too easily, plenty of polish work with my mini-mite!

My Opinel is a No. 8. It carries just fine in the bottom of my pocket right below my Delica.

I still haven't decided if I want to stain it a darker color. Something to play with, maybe use as my "car" knife. A back-up to my back-ups. Hmmmm.... idea forming... must hold head very still... I should have bought the No. 7. I bet it would fit nicely in the handle of my Bushman.

Maybe I check the No. 8 to see how it fits.

Polish work? Come on a tactical Op must be bead blasted. Btw i carry a #6 and love it.

Okay. The No. 8 does not fit in the bottom of a Cold Steel Bushman. I bet a No. 6 would fit just fine.
