Tactical pants with large front pockets?

Hey guys, perhaps you can recommend me something. I want to find pants with a lot of pocket room but that don't look like cargo pants. So far I've gotten one pair of "covert cargo pants" by 5.11 tactical. These pants have cargo pockets but the openings to them are vertical along the seam of the pants. However, the opening is smaller than it would be if they were normal cargo pockets and it can be awkward getting things into them. The hidden cargo pockets are really made to hold magazines for guns.

I'm basically just looking for pants with extra-deep front pockets. All of the pants I've seen at stores have small front pockets now that you can barely get your hand into.

I remember when I was a teenager I had a pair of olive green pants by a company called "Rusty" that I got at Pacific Sunwear. These weren't cargo pants but they had the deepest front pockets of any pants I've ever owned. The pockets were such that they could hold a full size ka-bar (sheathed of course) without the top of the knife showing.

Does anyone know of any pants like this? Basically any pants with super-deep front pockets will do, I guess they don't really have to be "tactical".

Rather than buying all new pants, you could probably have a tailor to enlarge the front pockets of pants you already have.

I need some new pants anyway. Maybe I can buy some and then enlarge the pockets myself, though I worry I'd mess it up. I don't really want to spend money on a tailor. It would be nice if I could just buy some new pants that have deep front pockets already.

Truspec 24/7 pants. Everything about them is better than all the "tactical" pants I have worn. FYI, everyone who sees them just thinks they are cargo pants. No one has ever said... nice tactical pants, and most do not even know what they are. Comfy, perfect storage solution, the back does not make them look like you are wearing a diaper as the 5.11 do. Just a nice pair of pants.

Massif makes a great pair of non-FR pants called the Battle Axe. Side pockets are set so that you can reach items inside even while seated! I love mine and if you shopped around ( la police gear *dot* com )you might find them on closeout like I did for $50 plus a discount. I love my Crye stuff, but Massif makes a great all-season softshell pant!
