I'd like to pick something up at about $50 or less, reasonably well made, and preferably something that doesn't scream 'mall Ninja'

Can anyone make any suggestions?

Thanks

In order of least subtle to most...

Smith & Wesson Tactical Pen

Schrade SCPENBK Tactical Pen

I say the Schrade is more subtle than the S&W because... well, it's S&W. I remember someone saying their S&W tac pen was confiscated by TSA. When trying the "it's just a pen" defense, TSA said "Uh huh, made by S&W. Looks like a weapon to me," or something along those lines.

Personally? Someone left an excellent pen in my office. No markings (so I can't buy another), but it seems it'd work well if the occasion called for it.

It's a little out of your budget but the Benchmade 1100 series pens are great. My wife bought me one for my birthday and I use it everyday and LOVE it. If you look a little bit you can find these for $80.00 or so.
