Tactical Pen Suggestion?

I need a recommendation for an EDC Tactical Pen. I know the term “Tactical Pen” can cover a variety of instruments, and it is hard to really judge what’s being offered from just looking at the ads on line. I want something that won’t draw attention when I actually use it to write (ie: it should not look like a piece of gear issued to the Delta Force!) and that I can carry comfortably through most security checks. And if it uses some standard brand of refill, that would be a plus. And of course, it should be solid enough to “do the job.”

So, any suggestions? Thanks!

It doesn't have to be manufactured as a "tactical" pen. The Zebra F-701 is a nice pen that just happens to work well for self-defense. A lot of fountain pens are scary sharp too.

Keep in mind there are a lot of these threads popping up and it just takes one idiot to ruin it for everyone. One idiot to ruin box cutters and knives, another idiot for drinks, some other idiot for shoes.

I will offer 2 suggestions:

1 - Search this forum for similar posts, there are some pens mentioned in the past worthy of investigating again. I started a thread asking the same thing around 3 months ago.
2 - The other suggestion is:
The county comm pen is pretty good. I like the aluminum one a lot.

+1, It's a perfect pen. I just wish the cap would lock onto the body when writing. I use it as my everyday pen, I carry it with my combo Sharpie.
The other pen that is good is the CRKT Tao pen.

As others have said, for the price, Countycomm can't be beat. Surefire is also nice and looks rather inconspicuous, aside from the glass breaker.

The Fisher Military Pen is perfect. Flat black, unobtrusive, strong, and has the Fisher Space cartridge allowing it to write upside down, in freezing weather, under water, etc. Plus it's $12.

The County Comm Embassy pen doesn't look "tactical". Another in that category is the Fred Perrin pen at EDC Knives. Not always in stock, unfortunately, but the best. Price is right, cap holds on the back, takes Fisher space pen or Parker Jotter refills, excellent clip.

I like a clickie pen for everyday, especially out and about, it's quicker to access. But realistically, a capped pen makes a better improvised kubotan.

+1 for the Zebra F-701. It doesn't look "tactical" at all, but is almost solid steel construction and writes really well too. You can get them at Amazon for around $6 each, much cheaper than other mean-looking pens :D:D
