Hey guys...

What tactical pens do you have have and like?

I have the original BM, and I like it, my brother is thinking of going the same way, but I thought I would refer to the experts and see what you all have to say.

I like the look of the Surefire Pen, how does it work, twist?

Thank you,

The original is a twist-action pen. I just traded into one of these. Good, solid construction. Problem: if you look at the large pic, you'll see the pen is in the open position. When closed, it's longer, which makes it hard to carry in a shirt pocket. A pants pocket might work, or if you're wearing a well-made shirt (the pen's heavier than you might be used to), you can clip it into the collar or between the buttons to keep it at the centerline. When closed the pen is also less solid when striking with it. A Youtube review of the first pen is here.

The second model is a clicky model. I've not handled or seen one. Sorry I can't be of help there.

That all helps, thank you.

Smith & Wesson and Shrade have some in various colors I found I liked. Plus they are wayyyy cheaper at around 30 to 40 bucks. They use the parker pen refills so they write good as well.

I prefer a standard pen for a tactical pen. I carry a Parker Jotter in Stainless. It writes extremely well and you can get a 10 pack for under $40.

Cheap and works great with the Fisher Space cartridge.

Avoid ANY retractable Fisher, especially the Cap-O-Matics like this one. They're neither sturdy nor stable for writing, much less defensive use. If you go with a Fisher, stick to the bullets or the other capped models. They're much better made.

I love my "Cap-O-Matic" Fisher. Just use a tiny dab of loctite to keep it from coming unscrewed.

They'll take Fisher refills, too. First thing I did when I got mine was swap out the insert. ;)
