tactical persian collector?

It's WICKED sharp! The Collector's Persian has a zero grind on it, and it's suppose to be VERY WICKED sharp!

It's the first Collector's Knife of the Year - 2002.

When it was first being sold, it was for sale ONLY to Emerson Collector's Assocation members.

It's not exactly "rare", it's somewhat easy to get one right now. However, in a few years, that can easily change.

I think it's a piece to buy and collect. I really want one myself!

Great score! And watch those fingers! :D

I agree with Andrew. I have one of these and it is the sharpest thing I have handled next to a razor blade! The thing will pierce at the slightest touch. It is the largest folder Emerson makes (the HMMV-K may have the same lenght blade, but I don't think any are longer). The handle ergos are typical Emerson- GREAT. And it is really well built. I would never get rid of mine. It is a keeper that, IMHO will only increase in value. Great score. Here are some pics of mine, next to it's brother, my customized CQC10 (by Shawn Thatch).

I've been slavering over this elegantly designed knife for some time. But unless you want to pay a couple of hundred dollars for the words "collectors edition," it appears to be no different than an ordinary beautiful Emerson Persian. I own several Emersons (not, alas, a Persian--yet). They're my favorites. All the tough talk by Ernest Emerson about the quality of his knives, is, in my view, warranted.

There is differences!

One the Collector's Persian has a true satin blade, and the regular Persian has a BT blade.

The regular Persian has a chisel edge - Collector's has the SCARY Zero Grind

Also (I think) the Collector's Persian is a hand ground blade by Mr. Emerson... So it's like a semi-custom.

There is differences - however both knives kick butt.

they are not neccesarily ground by ernest, some are but some are not and there is no way to tell, although they are pretty neat, would be my edc if i didnt have a specwar CQC8 and i have 8 EKI's, imho $450 is tooo much, i have seen 2 for sale, both started in the $350 range, i paid $205 for mine (SN 117 IIRC), and the other one was withdrawn, i know ya will never get your $$ outta the thing for $450, although if ya just want a user w/a zero bevel grind, it would be ok, i would keep an eye on the forums for one, or ebay myself, $450 is a little steep; i think they sold for $350 or so when new to ECA members. emerson makes several 'semi' customs w/a hand ground blade and regular handle, the CQC10 comes to mind, and all the ECA knives, and none of them has increased in value in the secondary market, they have all depreciated, these are not customs, so ya aint gonna buy one and make $$ 5 yrs down the line imho.. now if it was a spec war custom, then ya got something which will appreciate down the line, but this is a 'semi' custom

the ECA persian is 2X neater then a std EKI P-Tac imho, satin finish, zero bevel, the blade is a LITTLE bit longer, action and lock seem better to me (i have both)

oh, and wanted to add that w/the zero bevel grind this is not a utility knife, this is made strictly for self defense, and would be good at that, the zero bevel grind is wicked sharp, but this is not for cutting string and tape, it is difficult to sharpen properly and it has a thin edge, so FWIW,

good luck
