This knife should have been named tactical perfection. OK, had to run out before properly finishing this topic. The tactical Persian that I received is an EMERSON Logo, satin finished, single bevel ground blade with black micarta scales.
The Tactical Persian is a demure fixed blade in a line-up of otherwise hefty knives. While the live blade does measure out to the 4" length stated in the older catalogs it should be mentioned that there is a longer cutting surface due to the pronounced curve of the blade.
The point is very aggressive yet looks to be strong due to the 1/4" stock combined with the chisel grind. As far as the edge goes all I can say is wow! This particular Persian is as sharp as the CF-3 that I wrote about a few monthes back and that was the sharpest Emerson I have ever seen.
The ergonomics are excellent. This is one fast knife that seems very accurate. The Persian transitions from basic forward grips to reverse grip nicely via the index finger, thumb pinch method.
The sheath is rather unusual for Emersons. It is what appears to be a three piece Kydex rig
held together by brass scews. I am sure that there is a proper name for the hardware but I don't know what it is. Anyway the sheath is made of two seperate pieces of kydex that sandwhich the blade followed by a third that forms a belt sleeve. The rig seems to be made for a small of the back carry position with a thumb break that requires it to be drawn by the left hand. In other words it looks like a lefty sheath.
That's about it. I have wanted this knife more than any other Emerson for six years now and it finally paid off!
