Here's a knife I made for a friend of mine that is getting deployed to Iraq. 1095 with a non glare finish that still shows the hamon. 11.5" OAL, black micarta scales, and tan paracord wrap. This is my first stock removal knife which is a little strange for me being I usually like to hit stuff with hammers. thanks for lookin' and tell me what you think. Matt

Way cool awesome knife your friend should be very pleased. How thick on the stock

Thanks for the replies guys!
This started as 1/4" 1095, with grinding and such it ended up being .20" when done.

Matt,

Very nice. It's got interesting lines and even more interesting textures.
Lots of subtle things on that knife that make me want to look at it, and keep looking at it!

Your friend will be proud and my thoughts are with him.
I really hope he never has to learn how deadly that weapon can be.

Again, Good Job!

Keep Care,

Pappy

very nice, all the design elements really come together well! Plus it's nice & pointy.

Wicked looking! Hamons give the blade character. I hope it helps protect your friend in Iraq. Like to see more of your stuff too.

awesome knife man really different look. it looks like a long 11in! how long is the blade on that? what kind of handle material under the 550 wrap? beautiful work. -CB

Hey Chuck thanks for the comment. the blade is about 7-7.5" I don't have it with me but that seems about right. the scales are black cavas micarta lightly sandblasted then some wax when it was all done.

Matt ... GREAT job. Hope you don't mind if I borrow a little from that for one of my knives:>)) Keep it up

That's awesome.

Actually, I've always wondered what the policy is for knives in the sandbox.

Are soldiers permitted to carry anything they want? I would have thought there would be some restrictions, given the military's tendency to curtail individual preferences.

Although I believe the special ops people have more leeway...
