Most of what I see on this subforum seem to be tradition lazes, hawks, hatchets, etc. more geared toward the bushcraft and traditional crowd. Where are tactical hawks discussed, sold, traded, etc?

Lots of guys on Blade Forums have interest in them, own them, design them, and even make them. For the most part there are as many, if not more, high dollar hawks selling in the For Sale section than other axe types. Discussion of them comes and goes.

But where to talk about/discuss them?

Right here if you are brave.

Unfortunatley, discuss and talk does not equal sell. i have the same issue/question with kitchen knives.

Kitchen knives can be “common ground” ;)

Sales aside (that was meant only as an example of them being more popular than discussion here would indicate), I appreciate most well-designed and sharpened knives, axes, tools, and weapons, general use to specific. Also enjoy the tooling, forging, heat treating, and steel/type/quality/sutibility/durability/grinding/angles/useof/shoptalk/tips/tricks/wins/fails that go on around them.
That’s just me though.

I’ll read about tactical hawks

I live by my helm forge hawk. James Helm is a master of his craft. I had his first run 18 in hawk and then had him make me a custom 15 inch hawk and matching knife and they are a work of art. I love my traditional Hawks and own a few, but my helm forge war chief is in my EDC bag everywhere I go. On bladeforums his name is StormCrow. If you need a great hawk he is the guy to talk to.

James Helm, RMJ tactical, Daniel Winkler and Grafknives all make a pretty good product. Great steel choices, tough and reliable steels that can withstand lots of abuse: 5160 or 80crv2 (Winkler), 4140 (Helm and RMJ) and 4340 for Grafknives.

Thanks, Shaw11b! :)

There are more tactical 'hawks sold (along with other types of axes) here: https://www.bladeforums.com/forums/for-sale-axes-hatchets-tomahawks.927/ than necessarily gets discussed in this subforum. In large part because there has been a tendency for any discussion of tactical 'hawks or full-tang anything to bring out a lot of unneeded negativity in this subforum. It's been a little better lately. Hopefully that trend continues. It continues to be a growing niche.

Speaking of wraps, I started using 750lb paracord and and it fills the hand real well. Just sent this one off to a customer. Real deep forced etch.

Thanks! I've finally settled on a consistent, comfortable, tight wrap. As you well know, there can be some fuzzy math with figuring out the best way to wrap something.

Yeah, it's barely thicker but it's stiffer and feels more full if that makes sense. I was going to try and take a pic for you but I put them next to each other and the difference is almost not noticeable without handling them. Apparently there is some 950lb also, haven't tried it yet though.

No worries. So it sounds like there is less empty space inside the outer sheath of the cord. Are the core strands bigger around, or are there more of 'em? The 550 has 7 strands.
