As much as I like my present Fossil wallet, I'd like to upgrade to a nice tactical nylon one to match the rest of my gear. I know Maxpedition makes a bunch of good ones, but which is the smallest one that holds both money and cards? I'm looking for a front-pocket wallet so it needs to be slim, but I also want to actually carry my stuff in it! My present wallet is a bi-fold style. Thanks!

Get a titanium money clip from countycomm.. Fits front pocket really easily.

No money clips. Sorry. I carry things in my wallet that would not be very compatible. Thanks for the suggestion though! :)

I like the looks of the Maxpedition Micro Wallet. It has two internal pockets and one external. I think for me it would be very useful both for front pocket carry and for the tough material used.. I plan to buy one soon but I would like to know if a passport copy will fit nicely in it.

Problem with that one is it wouldn't carry cash well...hmm...my buddy has the spartan and it's nice, but a little wider than I'd hoped, but it may be my best option! At the price I might just give both a shot!

The problem with standard wallet styles is that they take up a lot of room with dividers, dividers that I find you don't need.

I've been carrying a coin purse that works just like this A.G.Russell pouch, and is exactly the same size, including same size zipper compartments. Small Leather Waist Pouch I got the brown, which is very nice and he also has it in black.

Coins go in the small front compartment. Easy to spill out into your hand to get change, and spill back in and zip. Instead of slotting each ID or credit card, they all stack in the main compartment. Bills fold in half and tuck behind the cards. You can thumb through cards and bills to pull out what you want easily.

It fits comfortably and securely in a front pocket -- safer than a back pocket. Thieves seeing you pull out a "coin purse" won't focus on you the way they would on a fat wallet with credit cards stacked up to tempt them. They can't see what's inside.

Easier to use than a standard wallet, more compact, and safer. The A.G. version even has a very sturdy belt loop.

Once you break it in, and get the velcro flap cinched down, it's thinner than it looks you don't carry too much junk in it.

What I love most about it is the way it really holds the cards and cash it's filled with. You can open it, turn it upside-down and shake it, and all your cards and cash will stay put.

It also rides right and stays comfortable.

Thanks for the input. I may end up with the Spartan after all. :)

I've been doing a bit of digging as of late looking for a new wallet.

Right now I'm considering the Maxpedition Urban or an All-Ett.

I want something small and flat (big wallets are bad for my posture), but able to hold a fair amount of bills and plastic.

I've owned these "High Speed Tactical" Wallets from both Blackhawk and Eagle Industries. I will warn you about one aspect that turned me off to them. They heavy duty cordura/nylon material they use as well as the over-done heavy duty stitching will each right through your credit and debit cards. I owned the blackhawk and after about 6 months my mastercard looked like I pressed it up against a belt sander for 10 seconds. So I orderd the Eagle cause their material is usually a little softer yet just as durable. Same difference. Maxpedition uses some of the stiffest and most durable nylon I've ever used. I can't imagine it will be any kinder to credit cards. Unless the guys at maxpedition though of this and put some kind of soft liner in their card slots, you may be in for some chewed up cards after a while. I love these types of wallets but they turned out not to be so practical for me. I gave mine to my Nephew and bought me a nice soft wallet from coach I think it was. It has the silk lined card slots and my cards are much happier for it. Just some food for thought. You can get one of maxpeditions waste packs to keep you fossil wallet and other goodies in and still protect your cards.

Tactical wallet?

Yeah I've got one has a knife, can opener, screwdriver, and .22 built into it...

The most "Tactical Wallet" I've ever owned or carried was a "Jimi" http://www.thejimi.com/ most guys I know use one rather then carry a standard wallet.

If I'm not carrying that I've got a 5 year old leather wallet thats butter soft and still in great condition. For dressy occasions that I want to show off I've got a stainless steel wallet (not what you think, its actually metal fibers that are woven so its soft as can be) http://www.thinkgeek.com/interests/dads/9964/ not very tacticool but its a wallet...How tacticool can it be?

I've heard of guys getting a bi-fold or tri-fold wallet with a zippered top but most of those guys are mall ninjas. Standard slim leather or a jimi is the only thing I ever see besides a nylon one.

You might want to check into the wallets Columbia sportswear manufactures. I have had one four 4 + years and it's still going strong. Not for sure of what current configurations they have but mine is bi-fold.

That Mission wallet's pretty darn tactical if it can hold a small folder AND a pen. I'm usually carrying those two anyways.

When I picture tactical, I'm also thinking of dinosaurs swearing. Not quite sure why...

The wallet itself is simply plastic that's been sewn together with a piece of paper underneath. Inside is six card slots and a slot for bills. Besides that, it's pretty bare bones. I like that it's made of a thin material, making the wallet itself thin, but what bugs me at times is that the cards can stick to the plastic and make for a more difficult retrieval.

My EDC for years now , still in great shape , cost effective , washes and cleans with ease and thier customer service is top notch !

Couldnt agree more.

Fabulous piece of kit. I have both the original & Jr. Im currently EDCing the junior from when I used to work in a suit, but now I wear BDUs or 511s (I work in an Outdoor Store) I should change back to the full-size 'cause it'll easily fit in my pockets.
