Ok... Let's get this out of the way. This is right on the border of what would be considered a traditional knife in this subforum considering its screw construction and titanium covers. But hear me out please.

This is a collaboration between Tactile Knife Co and Jared Oeser called the Ranger. It features a CPM-MagnaCut Blade, titanium covers, a true Westinghouse canvas Micarta shield, half stop, and one HECK of a grind! The best part (well, other than the price) is that it is U.S. made!

It is so nice to see a high quality modern traditional being produced in the United States! I can't give you an exact number, but expect low to mid $300's. I was told a modern traditional of this quality COULD NOT be made in the U.S. at this price!

I would call the pull a strong seven, or maybe a light eight. I really don't have enough good things to say about this knife! I don't think it's available to the general public just yet, but when it is, I highly recommend you check it out!

These look great, really well done, and nice that he was able to produce them in the US. I’m a fan of Jared’s work, he builds a super clean knife. Someday I hope to pickup one of his Native slipjoints.

He does incredible work. I have a Tachi from him and a Straight Hawk on the way. He makes an extremely nice modern knife, but his traditionals are just mindblowing.

A good tradition just keeps getting better.😀

Agreed! And this REALLY has the feel of a nice traditional knife. They got the spring tension so perfect. It feels like opening a high-end trapper. And the fit and finish... WOW! Zero gaps along the spring. Completely flush when open. It's just a beauty. It really does have the heart of a true traditional knife, and feels that way when you hold it (if that makes any kind of sense 😂).

I'm just so stoked to see a modern take on a higher end traditional knife that's made here in the states (and at a great price!).

I agree, Jared and throw in Enrique Pena, although both mainly focused on modern knives now, have build some of the finest traditionals I’ve seen. If possible work the Tachi and Straight Hawk when you get it into a photo on here, would love to see them!

Yep. The whole Superlativ crew (Jared Oeser, Enrique Pena, and Javi Garcia) are all absolutely incredibly talented knifemakers. And some of the nicest, most humble people you’ll ever meet too.

I actually have a custom Pena Luxe (modern) I picked up at Blade West, and a Garcia (likely a Zulu) in the works!

The Tachi and Luxe have been posted on the forum, but I’ll hunt them down when I’m not on baby duty. 😂🤣

I just picked this one up on the exchange and I couldn’t agree more @FixallIMG_7088.jpegIMG_7084.jpeg Incredible slip joint knife. The blade architecture and grind is sublime. Centering is perfect. Tolerances are CRK level. This conversation should also include a tip of the hat to Tactile who make incredible knives (and pens) at production level in Texas. This is my third Tactile knife and all of them have been A to A+ level. Home run collab with Oeser here.IMG_7092.jpeg
