I wanted to check out the fishing holes and habitat at the river a while back. I also wanted to see what crayfish were out there, and if the hellbenders made it this far up stream. Those things pack a punch, so I used the tac tool to pry and probe into all the crevices. Worked as a hell of a pry bar and helped me move around rocks, and dig into the dirt to hold me there, and even cut some fishing line that was snagging up the river. Once again, the tactool proved to be handy in different situation.

here are the only pics I had. The rest were all just the snorkel sticking up :P Now I get to blind you all!

cool :) how big are these "hellbenders"? http://internet-pets.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html - apparently it's a very good sign if they are in a stream. don't stab them !!! they're going extinct.

crawdads... i used to catch up to 5 inch ones as a kid. do you eat them?

i've been pondering how to really sharpen up the "string hook", and it's kinda dull on the samples i have.

actually, i'd vastly prefer to not have the hook there at all (for a stronger tool), but that's another issue :)

yeah, its handy for cutting line, and I think i might have opened a beer with it. You won't have to worry about me stabbing any reptile or amphibian. Hellbenders are so slick you almost always have to have a bucket ready while nabbing them. They don't call them snot otters for nothing!

You may want to try a small round file to begin with, gradually working your way up to a small round cermic stone. I just hit that part up with a cermic stone from spyderco before I really need it.
