Hey guys, I have been eying a new Midtech Ti framelock for a while now. Just today I laid down $500 for a proto TAD, and while I am not trying to justify it now, I kind of am lol. I have always liked the look of one, and I have heard good things, but never from people that have first hand experience with them. I searched BF and I came up with 10 pages of mostly all for sale or WTB threads, none of them really gave much of a review on it. I would also like to know who actually does the manufacturing for TAD?

Thank you for your input ahead of time

I am hoping to be able to get one when they relist them on their website. Great looking blades I think. And I think they run around $300 right off the site.

Yes, I purchased the All Ti, which I believe is 400 on the site, $100 is a lot of money to spend because someone doesn't want to wait though.

I don't think there's a lot of reviews because not too many people are actually using them. They manage to inflate in value quickly and a lot of people like to capitalize on that or they simply collect them.

They're super nice knives. I have one with the green scales from the first numbered run and its hands down my favorite pocketknife of the last six months. I've owned or currently own many high end productions from spyderco, benchmade, Chris Reeve, Strider, hinderer, emerson, etc, etc. the Reeves are the only ones with a higher level of fit and finish, and not by much. It's not as heavy duty and "substantial" as say a hinderer/strider/zt, but its very tough and very well designed.

It's also not a large pocket knife, it finds a place along side knives like the rift and SNG more than say contegos, or Umnumzaan.

I dunno, I'll add some more thoughts or pictures after I eat some breakfast. You didn't do wrong by paying $500 for the titanium version. Who knows how long til they release another batch or if you'll even manage to get one then. $$ well spent :)

It won't be long and you'll forget how much you spent...good deal or not. I surely am happy that I forget so easily. Enjoy it; this is not a dress rehearsal.
