I'm a huge fan of Tad Lynch's work and I feel really privileged to call him a friend now too. I've had a few great projects with him so far and a few more on the horizon.

I was looking a gift for a friend of mine and I remembered a little wrapped knife that he had made for Lorien so I asked would he do something similar, and then I thought why not damascus and then I thought why not include a "to me from me" gift into the package as well.

So we started with this as a blueprint -

and Tad worked this out for something a little bit different

and a few better pics, the last couple of days over here we've had hotter temperatures than Spain which believe me is something unique which got me a chance to snap some pics outside, here's also a pic that Tad should appreciate. Over here in Ireland "craic" isn't what it sounds like "crack." I had to try to remember that in the USA in case some police officer misheard ...

Now Tad and I have become good friends over my travels, him and Amy are fantastic people. I really hope they can get over to my part of the world so I can show them the same hospitality.
When the package arrived I was looking at the customs declaration and there were 4 items on it. I didn't think anything of it till I got home and opened to package. I was really humbled by what was inside. Tad gifted me his personal bowie to mark my entrance into ministerial training. I was really bowled over by such a gesture.

There are some gifts that really get you and this is one of them so all I can say is a massive THANK YOU to Tad and Amy!!!

It's a great knife - curly maple handle, wrought iron s guard and ferrule and a 10 inch blade with a really nice hamon (don't have a clue what blade steel is it). It's got some great distal taper, this thing is such a light fighter but it can cut inch rope like nobodies business, great edge.

Great knives all around..... :)

Tad's a great guy and I greatly enjoy his work....those neckers are superb but that loooong, pointy Fighter is what I'm talkin' about!!! :D

I got NO problem with that, man!

Thanks guys.
Philip, cool pics. Glad you're cutting some stuff! 1095 on the steel. From a few yrs back.

Tad

Those look really good with the paracord tsuka and forge crust. Very nice. Great gesture with the Bowie as well.

Those are some nice little knives. Tad's work is exceptional and he'll do to hang out with too. :)

Excellent!

I got to meet Tad in ATL and he is a class act!

I've loved his work for a long while, just based on photos, but it's even better in person!!! Great lines, wonderful feel, and excellent execution.

Those damascus pieces look handier than a pocket on a shirt. :D

Extra cool/amazing that he gifted you his personal carry Bowie! :)

I concur with everything you said Nick and Lin too. Tad does some great stuff. I'm just waiting on my leather guy making a wee pocket sheath for that wee knife and then I can carry it handier. But the big Bowie is a pleasure to carry leaves such a snall print and is so light.

Nick and Lin you are both on the list of knifemakers wanted too.

Hey, Nick.

It was great visiting with you. Wish we could have talked longer. Following your process on here has definitely improved my work. I appreciate the kind words, from all.

Philip is a heck of a young man and has really done well getting accepted into ministerial training...over there it's
quite a process.

Congrats again, bud.

Tad

Appreciate it Tad!!!

I'm looking forward to the next couple of years studying. Though being a student again doesn't bode well for the knife collecting :(.
